The Playing Body Was Not Ready To Work With Yahaya Mohammed – Kotoko Spokesman

Acting Spokesperson of Asante Kotoko, Ali Maradona has revealed the reason behind the Club’s decision to release striker Yahaya Mohammed.

Yahaya Mohammed was released by the management of Asante Kotoko following an indefinitely suspension on the player after he was alleged to have left abruptly to sign a pre-contract with Libyan side Al Ittihad in April this year.

The Ghana champions last Friday announced that they have parted ways with the former OG Nice and Tema Youth forward indicating the player’s availability to any club.

The communication director of Asante Kotoko has therefore come out to explain the Club’s decision to let go of the menace forward stating the playing body were not ready to work with the 26-year-old.

“Yahaya was released after management sat down and took certain decisions into consideration. The playing body was not ready to work with him [Yahaya],” Ali Maradona told Peace Fm

“The coach made it clear to management that he doesn’t want to have anything to do with the player”.

“The players themselves made it clear to the management that they wouldn’t play if Yahaya is allowed into the team again”.

“They said they would boycott games and make the team officials and management play the football themselves if we allow Yahaya to come back into the team. So it was a concrete decision that we took”.

Yahaya Mohammed joined the Porcupine Warrior in 2011, but spent the 2012/13 season on loan at relegated side Amidaus professional where he scored 10 goals in his loan stint with the club.
