Ten In Bolgatanga Police Grip …For Cultivating And Trading In Marijuana
Briefing reporters at the Regional Police Headquarters in Bolgatanga, the Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Isaac Alex Quainoo, said 86 mini bags of dried leaves and seeds of marijuana were recovered from the suspects. They were arrested on their farms.
Among them was Yidana Mahama, a man who identified himself as a Chief. The youngest among the suspects is seventeen years old.
According to the police boss, some of the suspects escaped during the swoop, but their identities were known, and would be brought to book as well.
DCOP Quainoo observed that the suspects had been engaged in the cultivation and trading of marijuana, and warned that the police would clamp down on anyone who cultivates or trades in it.
He hinted of more swoops and arrests, and advised the public to report to the police for action, persons who engage in the cultivation and trading of marijuana, because it was a criminal offense.
