Teberebie Honors AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine
For their immense contributions towards the sustainable development of Teberebie community, AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine has been honored by the Chiefs and People of Teberebie.
The recognition took place at the just ended celebration of the Mine’s Social Investment Day which was climaxed with the commissioning of a fully equipped state-of- the- art health Centre at Teberebie in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality to address the health needs of Teberebie and its surrounding areas.
Presenting the awards, the Chief of Teberebie, Nana Kojo Minnah II expressed gratitude to AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine for the numerous contributions of the company in the area of health, Education, Water and Sanitation and Youth in apprenticeship. He commended the company for the provision of the health Center and staff quarters which will help curb maternal mortality in the community and help ease pressure on the Tarkwa Government hospital.
The Chief of Teberebie assured Iduapriem Mine of Teberebie’ s continued support in all areas of development for their community and the Mine’s operations. Over the years AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine has provided its cherished communities access to improved health care, water and sanitation, educational facilities, local economic development and capacity building in the area of agriculture, gender and youth development programme
The Managing Director of the Mine maintained that the Mine will complement the efforts of government in meeting the MDG goals 4,5 and 8. Members of the Mine’s Senior Management honored include the Managing Director, Mr. Sicelo Ntuli, the Senior Manager Sustainability, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo and the Resident Medical Manager, Dr. Hayord Etteh.
The Teberebie Health Center has since been handed over to the Municipal Directorate of Health in Tarkwa.
