Surfline Communications Limited is gearing up to launch Ghana’s first  Long-Term Evolution ( LTE) network.

According to a press statement from the Surfline, thousands of prospective customers have applied to take part in testing the service, which the  wholly-owned Ghanaian company says will deliver the best internet experience in Ghana.

‘Press Play’, a testing programme recently introduced by Surfline across social media and the business community, puts prospective consumers and enterprises at the heart of shaping the customer experience before the commercial launch of Ghana’s first 4G LTE network.

Participants in selected areas in the Greater Accra region will receive free connectivity devices to surf the internet, in exchange for their feedback on what works well and on any improvements that need to be made.

Speaking at an event to mark the launch of the test period at the Independence Square in Accra, CEO of Surfline, Dr Yaw Akoto,  said: ‘Ghanaians are aware that super-fast internet speeds powered by LTE, are already being enjoyed in other parts of the world.

“We believe that people living and working in Ghana also deserve the best, so we are proud to pioneer LTE in Ghana, and work with our prospective consumers to define a network experience that is truly special.

“Surfline is the only telecoms operator in Ghana that is 100% owned by Ghanaians.  As Ghanaians, we are thrilled to bring the phenomenon that is 4G LTE into Ghana for the first time.”

Founded in 2011,   Surfline is the first mobile telecoms operator to pioneer an LTE network in Ghana.
