An ultra-modern ICT centre, built with library books and computers for Akote community primary school pupils was commissioned over the weekend in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The facility will not only offer theoretical studies but practical knowledge in ICT to the pupils.
Addressing the media, a representative of the donor supporting companies, Madam Cathrine, said investing in children was very essential since they are the future leaders of every country.
She also commended partner companies such as Porters Hands Apostolic Ministries, Balequa Mineral Water, Volitic Mineral Water, Samsung Group of Companies, Country Ghana, Channel IT, Stanbic Bank, and Cocoa Production Limited for their supports and committed social responsibilities towards rural development.
The Akote chief Baffour Okyerefo Kwapong, who commissioned the project commended the donors and endorsed the E-learning Center for the area.
Baffour Okyerefo noted that with ICT, the children could compete with others across the globe, adding that, he pleads with the central government to support the urban communities, by providing them portable water, good roads, electricity, CHPS center and quality education, which were the basic keys to the nation’s development.
