Stop blaming; provide solutions – Dr. Senzu charges businesses
Dr. Tweneboah Senzu, Managing Director of Bastiat Society Ghana, an economic think tank, has charged various business associations to explore opportunities in the current economic challenges facing the country.
He therefore asked the associations to stop blaming government and rally their members to provide solutions to the economic doldrums.
Dr. Senzu in a statement also urged business associations to adopt mitigation strategy, such as the provision of reliable and innovative business development information, to protect their members.
The approach, he was convinced, would guide their members against unexpected economic shocks.
“We at Bastiat Society believe that, when government policies and strategies are failing, it is the responsibility of management of business associations to see far into the future and read it opportunities and threat,” Dr. Senzu said.
He added: “If it was only to just be informed about the nature of business environment and its impact on individual businesses, I believe majority of members who are in such associations would have never joined the groups in the first instance, because information travels faster these days to get informed”.
He observed that members have lost confidence in the various business associations, some with yearly subscription of over GH₵ 1,000, because they failed to solve challenges facing businesses.
He said Bastiat Ghana’s focus is to see to it that unproductive SMEs are position to be scalable and productive to the benefit of the economic growth of Ghana.
“We want to reduce as much as unproductive small scale enterprises in Ghana,” Dr. Senzu promised.
In view of that, he said Bastiat Ghana is organising a maiden Entrepreneurship Conference in Accra to facilitate the reduction of unproductive small scale enterprises in the country.
The conference which is opened to the business community is scheduled to take place on September 12 at the British Council Hall on the theme: “Reliable alternative solution for business growth and principle wealth making.”
The conference is expected to be replicated in Western and Ashanti regions as well.
