Stephen Appiah Wants Wives And Girlfriends of Black Stars Players Allowed In Ghana Camp

Some pundits have argued that families of players at a tournament must stay away from them so that they could focus on getting their forms right while others have also defended why they they are needed in camp.

Appiah, who was captain at the 2006 finals in Germany and played a cameo at the 2010 edition in South Africa, is in support of WAGs invading Ghana’s camp.

“First and foremost I think if the wives are allowed then fiancées should also be allowed,” the former Juventus star told GHANASoccernet.com

“It’s not all players that are married but some have serious fiancées so how do you deny their fiancées access to them while allowing others.

“Marriage is a serious institution and you don’t just see someone and marry her. You need to study the person for some time. If you allow wives and leave fiancées you would end up escalating the situation you seek to avoid.

“Because some of the players can afford to book hotels for their fiancées and leave camp to see them.

“My candid opinion is that if one won’t be allowed then none should be to avoid any discomfort and bring equality.

“But in my view, we should allow the players to bring their wives and fiancees in camp.”

Neighbours Nigeria had their head coach Stephen Keshi grant permission to wives but not fiancées to join the Super Eagles at the mundial.

But Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is yet to announce his stance on the matter.
