Ghana’s Black Stars will wrap up their non-residential camping with a farewell game against a locally-based side referred to as the Dream Team at the Accra Stadium today.
The game, arranged by Primeval Consult, has a two-pronged benefit – to test Kwasi Appiah’s men before the summer World Cup and to offer Ghanaians the opportunity to watch the team play for the very first time before the mundial.
And like the Stars, the local components, who would be led by Kotoko’s raster-haired striker Yahaya Mohammed, appear poised to prove a point.
At a pre-match press conference at the Media Centre of the Accra Stadium, Coach Appiah revealed, ‘The match is a very significant match for the team because it will serve as a perfect occasion to get the spiritual backing of the entire nation.
‘All the players in the camp will be given the opportunity to play to exhibit their quality to Ghanaians.’
Abdul Majeed Waris reiterated the team’s readiness to make a huge impact in the test match and the World Cup in general saying, ‘It will be a good game, in that just as we have purposed to prove why we were chosen, they will also put up their best performance to prove a point.’
According to the organizers, the game is also to appreciate the fans for rallying support for the team from the qualifiers till date.
The team is expected to fly out of the country for Rotterdam tomorrow where they will pit their strength against their Holland counterparts in an international friendly.
A cool rate of ¢5.00 would be charged as gate fee.
