Black Stars’ new Puma jersey for the Brazil 2014 World Cup has been unveiled at the Puma shop in the Accra Shopping Mall.

The white jersey, which is the home jersey, has a beautiful blend of stars designed in red, yellow and green around the neck with the same design on the arms. The away jersey on the other hand, which is red, has no design around the neck but just a strip on the arms.

At the launch of the new apparel  in the Puma Shop at the Accra Shopping Mall  last Saturday, Youth and Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah expressed the wish that the spirit of Ghana will possess the  players as a result of the rich colours, which from afar, looks like Kente (a rich multi coloured fabric) design around the neck of the shirt.

‘Most definitely, appearance to some extent affects one’s psyche, and I believe it will have a positive impact on their play. Of course, I am not ruling out proper preparation, determination and tenacity of purpose as some of the key factors to winning a game.

‘I hope the spirit of Ghana will possess the players as they don the national colours, and we will show the whole world the Ghana brand of soccer in Brazil,’ said the Minister.

The jersey launch attracted Black Stars players of old and current generations. Samuel Inkoom represented the current folks, while Tony Yeboah, Emmanuel Ampeah, Frimpong Manso, Tony Baffoe, Isaac Kwakye , Godwin Ablordey and Stephen Appiah represented the past generation, who engaged in a special four-aside game prior to the  unveiling.

The Black Stars will use the new shirt when they take on a local select side in a farewell game on May 23, at the Accra Stadium.
