St. Louis SHS Students Schooled On Safety Usage Of Electricity And Water
Kumasi-Students of St. Louis Senior High Secondary School , one of the renounced Catholic Girls Schools in the country have been schooled on the safety ways of using electricity and water both at school and home.
The one day forum on safety usage of Electricity and Water by students was organised by the Water and Energy Conservation Organisation(WECO) branch of the school.
One of the objectives of the (WECO) was to create platforms for students in the school to be educated on isuess related to electricity and water usage.
Opening the forum on Tuesday at St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi, Mrs Theresa Addae, Headmistress of St. Louis Senior High School, commended the leaders of the organisation for organising such educative and important programme for the entire student body but not only for their members alone.
She appealed to the officials of Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana Water Company to intensify their public education on conservation of power and water and hoped that such education would go a long way to help the country to conserve power and energy for future use.
Mr. Ekow Cole, Ashanti East Regional Safety Officer of ECG, advised students to learn to used electricity wisely to save their parents and school authorities money from pay high bliss for power used.
He attributed high billing some people experienced to poor wiring and he entreated the public to employ qualify personnel to wire their property for them.
He advised against the use of sub-standard materials for wiring since it could cause a lot of damage to life.
Mr. Sampson Ampah, Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of Ghana Water Company, encouraged the students to cultivate the habit of water conservation by using water reasonably both at home and at school.
He urged the students to desist from indiscriminate disposal of plastic wastes since it damage water bodies.
