Aaron Ramsey is targeting Arsenal’s
North London derby against Tottenham to make a long-awaited comeback from
Midfielder Ramsey has been out with a thigh injury since the Boxing Day
victory over West Ham after starting the season brilliantly.
Ramsey suffered a setback in his rehabilitation last month, but is now hoping
to be fit enough to play a part against Spurs at White Hart Lane on March 16.
The return of Ramsey will be a huge boost to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and
the club’s hopes of winning this season’s Premier League title.
Ramsey had scored 15 goals in all competitions up until his injury and had
been one of the best performers in Europe.
Arsenal are still trying to negotiate a new contract for Bacary Sagna, but the
right-back is playing hardball and demanding a £100,000-a-week three-year
Sagna’s current £70,000-a-week contract expires in the summer and the
Frenchman’s good form has attracted clubs in France and Turkey, where he
could a four-year deal.
Arsenal have offered 31 year-old Sagna a two-year extension on roughly the
same amount of money, but the player has so far refused to soften his stance.
With Sagna’s future unclear, Arsenal have already started the process of
identifying potential replacements.
