Spio-Garbrah Admonishes Pastors
Dr Ekwow Spio – Garbrah , President of the Dominion University College (DUC), has urged pastors not to lord themselves over their congregation when they acquire new knowledge and subsequently become successful.
He said pastors should not disregard their members when they achieve greater heights in the ministry of God but rather apply the new knowledge and experience acquired to the benefit of the congregation and the church.
Spio-Garbrah made this known at the graduation ceremony of 45 pastors who pursued a 3-week course in Strategic Church Management and Policy Development at the DUC’s Centre for Professional Development and Consultancy (CPDC) in Accra.
He urged the pastors to apply what they have learnt in their ministry work, reminding them that although there would be challenges in the course of their duty, they should strive to surmount them and put in efforts in attaining greater heights.
Spio-Garbrah noted the University intended to organize the Strategic Church Management every year to help develop a new crop of church leaders who would effectively manage affairs of their congregation.
He appealed to them to provide feedback to the facilitators of the programme for assessment in order to help improve on future programmes that would be organized.
The president in an interview with the media added that preparations had been made by the University to partner a publishing company known as African Business Media to develop a scholarship scheme that would help ease financial burdens on needy students.
Spio-Garbrah said the University which is barely a year old seeks to deviate from the status quo and become a problem solving tertiary institution.
David Asante, Director of the centre, congratulated participants upon successful completion of the course and urged them to share their experience with other men of God.
Dominion University College runs degree programmes in Theology and has experience in training Christian leaders who serve within and outside the country.
