‘Seek The Welfare Of The Unemployed’
Very Rev O.S.K. Boakye said the church should not only focus on the spiritual growth of its members but their material needs as well.
The outgoing Synod Secretary of the Sunyani Diocese was delivering a sermon at a send-off service held for him and his family at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Sunyani on Sunday.
Very Rev. O.S.K Boakye, who is also the out-going Superintendent Minister for the Sunyani Circuit of the Methodist Church, is on transfer to the Old Tafo Circuit in the Kumasi Diocese as a Superintendent Minister.
He was commissioned as a Minister in 1983 and has since served in various capacities in the church as well as worked in a number of places as a Methodist Minister.
Very Rev O.S.K Boakye advised people in leadership positions to encourage their followers to aspire to greater heights and constantly seek to support, equip and empower them to be self-reliant.
For his part, the Methodist Bishop of Sunyani, Right Rev Kofi Asare-Bediako, described Very Rev. O.S.K Boakye as a team player, a good listener, patient and hard-working.
In appreciation of the dedicated service rendered by the Minister and his family to the church, Wesley Cathedral presented Benz saloon car to them. In addition, various organisations in the church and some individuals made donations to the Minister and his family.
