Sarkodie Not Happy With The Media
Ghana’s award-winning fastest rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, aka Sarkodie has pleaded with the media to desist from acts which seek to tarnish the image of Ghanaian musicians.
He also expressed displeasure with how a section of Ghanaian journalists sideline the positive aspects of the musicians and concentrate more on their bad side to sell their newspapers.
Speaking on YFM last Saturday, Sarkodie, who has demonstrated his versatility as a musician by collaborating with other hiplife artistes such as Kwaw Kesse, Obrafour, Mugeez, Quata, Sway, Keche, Castro among others, urged the media to promote the activities of local artistes instead of publishing stories that tarnish their image.
The 2012 Artiste of the Year disclosed that Ghanaian musicians have contributed a lot towards the development of the society but the media has failed to promote that, adding that some have even instituted projects to support the needy.
He however advised his fellow musicians to work extra hard in order to meet the challenges ahead of them.
Sarkodie began his career as an underground rapper and later participated on ‘Kasahare’, a show on Adom FM, where his rap skill attracted a large number of music fans.
He became a household name in Ghana with the release of his album ‘Makye’ in April 2009. The album proved to be successful, producing many hit singles such as ‘Babe’, ‘Borga’, ‘Lay Away’ and ‘Alter’. He has also worked with beat makers such as Jayso, 2Tuff and Kaywa.
