Samsung Ghana Extends Support To Four Orphanages

Osu Children’s Home, Royal Seed Orphanage, Beacon House Orphanage and Teshie Orphanage benefit from Samsung’s CSR initiative
Samsung Ghana has donated products worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to four orphanages in Accra. The orphanages; Teshie Orphanage, Beacon House Orphanage, Osu Children’s Home and Royal Seed Orphanage in Kasoa received refrigerators, washing machines and microwave ovens at a colourful ceremony held in Accra.
The donation is in line with Samsung’s commitment to improving the lives of the people in the communities in which they operate.
The donation is an extension of the recently-concluded Samsung Chelsea Youth Football Camp, a CSR initiative of Samsung which brought together, 190 children between the ages of 8 and 13 across the country.
Fifty four (54) of the participating children were selected from the aforementioned orphanages. They camped at the Lizzy Sports Complex for two days, training with UK coaches from Chelsea Foundation.
Presenting the items to representatives of the respective orphanages at a ceremony in Accra, Marketing Manager for Consumer Electronics at Samsung, Richard Nunekpeku reiterated Samsung’s passion to touching the lives of the vulnerable in society.
‘We fervently look out for opportunities where we can make an impact. We sometimes do it on our own or partner with other bodies to achieve this objective. We have a great deal in common with people who never give up. Raising hundreds of children who are less privileged undoubtedly poses great challenges which could have forced these individuals to give up; but they did not’.
He added that: ‘we are happy to be making a difference in the lives of these children at the orphanages. Our success as a brand will not be measured by how much money we have made, but by how many lives we have touched’.
The representatives from the orphanages expressed their gratitude to Samsung for the kind gesture and called on other corporate entities to do same.
