A 35-year-old Ghanaian model with a rather extra ordinary confidence, Diana Owiredu, popped up on the Exopa runway with a noticeable pregnancy during the 2014 edition of L Fashion Night contest for plus size models last week.
The pregnant model became the centre of attraction as she and other plus size models thrilled the audience with their catwalk, dance and taste of fashion.
‘Yes, she is pregnant and that didn’t stop her from joining her colleagues on the runway. It’s her passion and we are happy to have her on our runway. It didn’t defeat the purpose of our programme because we wanted to provide a platform for all who wanted to model,’ event director, Abu Ibrahim, told NEWS-ONE after the show.
The L Fashion Night took place at the Exopa Burg in Accra behind the Zenith College at the Trade Fair area.
It came off amidst interesting performances by upcoming musicians and dancers including 1Step Dance Crew.
There were amazing African fabrics designs on display by Nallem Clothing, Allan David and graduates from the Joyce Ababio College of Creative Designs including Lina’s Cut, Josiah, Twinkle Collection and KF Tailoring.
The L-Fashion Night was introduced in 2008 purposely to bring some innovations into Ghana’s fashion industry whilst promoting African fabrics.
It was also to introduce new trends onto the runway and help nurture plump models who are interested in modelling.
Saturday’s event was supported by Hitz Fm, Peacefmonline.com, DAILY GUIDE, Okay fm and NEWS-ONE.
