Power Sharing Will Breed Corruption—K.B Asante
Retired Diplomat K. B. Asante has said the calls for power-sharing will only breed corruption.
According to him the calls of elimination of ‘winner-takes-all’ syndrome “sounds alright but it’s a recipe for disaster, a recipe for sharing corruption.”
‘I am not happy at all about this sharing power. Eventually you share corruption, that is not what we want,” he noted.
His concerns come on the back of calls by Chairman of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei and members of the public that political parties do away with the winner takes all syndrome.
Mr. K.B Asante said political parties are there because they have different solutions to the problems of the country.’Let those who have one set of opinion get to one side, but if we are having a unity government it should be for a purpose.”
”Let the parties have definite policies, they should all have a plan”; he said Ghana is getting polarized because the mindset is ”not correct and we have nothing to think about”.
Speaking on Eyewitness News the former ambassador said he supports politicians coming together for a particular purpose. ”If it is for a particular purpose, yes; but not just to come together and loot state money, that will lead to corruption.”
