Peace Council Salutes Nana Addo
The National Peace Council has commended the NPP’s Presidential Candidate Nana Akuffo Addo for accepting the verdict of the Supreme Court.
Speaking on Citi News,Chairman of the National Peace Council,Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante said”Let me congratulate Nana Akufo Addo for keeping his word that whatever the decision is he will accept it; he has truly as a democrat, as somebody who believes in the rule of law clearly accepted it, congratulated the President”
According to Reverend Asante it is good Nana Addo conceded defeat.
He also advocated for electoral reforms that will seal all the loopholes exposed in the election petition case.
”I am very sure that recommendations have been made; electoral reforms that will be needed so that we do not get to where we to in our next elections.”
Meanwhile, the Christian Council of Ghana has congratulated Ghanaians for the mature way they accepted the election petition verdict.
”We want to give thanks to God and also congratulate ourselves as a people; this one issue that has been able to bring us together as a nation.”
General Secretary of the Christian Council, Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong told Citi news, the posture of the two leaders was very encouraging.
”We congratulate both President Mahama and Nana Akufo Addo for accepting the verdict; it’s very encouraging.”
The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by three leading New Patriotic Party leaders including the 2012 flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, challenging the EC’s declaration.
The petitioners had alleged that Mr Mahama won the election fraudulently, a charge the governing National Democratic Congress denied.
