Pastor banished from town over alleged sexual escapades
A pastor at Adiemra in the Adansi North District in the Ashanti Region has been banished from the town as a result of his alleged sexual escapades in the community.
The Chief of Adiemra, Nana Oduro Frikyi I, said it was dangerous for the community to accommodate the pastor, Rev Bright Nana Okai Ababio, the Founder and Leader of the Life Chapel Ministry International at Kyekyewere, near Obuasi, whose three-month stay at Adiemra had brought nothing but allegations that he sexually molested women.
Rev Ababio, who recently had a confrontation with a fetish priest over money, is in police custody at nearby Hweremoase, after a married woman had lodged a complaint of attempted rape against him.
The Fomena District Police, Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr Daniel Amoah, confirmed in an interview with the Daily Graphic that the pastor was in custody.
‘We are going to take statements from the pastor and the woman in question, as well as the chief and other witnesses. From there, we will see the way forward,’ he said.
However, Nana Frikyi told the Daily Graphic in a telephone interview that he had directed that the Life Chapel Ministry should not be allowed to operate from the classroom that the congregation previously used.
Giving details, Nana Frikyi said the pastor, who started his ministry in the town about three months ago, recently walked to his palace to make a case against eight women, accusing them of sending obscene text messages to him.
The chief said he advised the pastor, ‘to take it cool’ and go about his ministerial work, but the pastor insisted that the eight women be hauled before the chief to explain why they were harassing him sexually.
Nana Frikyi said he decided to go into the case, but just before the date fixed for the arbitration of the case, the pastor informed him that he had dropped the charges against seven of the women, leaving only one.
Last Sunday, when the case was to be heard before the chiefs, the pastor failed to appear, without any reason, but one of the women whose name the chief gave only as Grace, was at the police station where she told the chiefs that it was rather the pastor who had made an attempt to rape her in his room.
The woman had allegedly gone to the pastor’s room for prayers because she was on the verge of losing her job but he allegedly took advantage of the situation and attempted abusing her sexually.
Nana Frikyi said the woman showed her torn underwear as evidence that he had tried to force her into having sex with him.
According to the chief, he also found out that there was no truth in the allegation the pastor had made against the other women. Consequently, it became necessary for him to ban him from the town and close down his church to protect the women of the town.
A couple of weeks ago, drama unfolded at Adansi Anwiaso in the Adansi North District in the Ashanti Region when a fetish priest, apparently in a trance, went to Rev Ababio’s church to demand the balance of a fee the pastor had been charged for the juju the priest allegedly gave the man of God to expand his ministry.
The fetish priest, Nana Boafo Mosi of the Boafo Mosi Shrine at Adansi Anwiam, alleged that he had been driven by his gods to confront the pastor.
