Organized Labour Demonstration: Accra Protestors Clash With Police

Organised Labour’s demonstration almost turned violent when protestors decided to change the final venue for converging.

Instead of converging near the Arts Centre, the venue they originally agreed on with the police, the protestors decided to move to the Independence Square.

According to Citi News’ Fred Djabanor the Police disagreed with the change of venue by the protestors.

”The protestors who were supposed to end the demonstration at the Hearts Park, near Arts Center say they are not going to end there but the at the Independence Square; this led to the police blocking the road, but the demonstrators over-powered them,” he said.

He added that the demonstrators also threatened to even continue to the seat of government.

The protestors will march to the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations from the Independence Square to present their petition.

Members of Organized Labour are marching through streets across the nation protesting what they describe as worsening economic conditions.
