On his way out? Andre Ayew hints at Marseille exit
Andre Ayew has dropped hints that he might leave Olympique Marseille, further heightening the growing rumours of a move this summer.
The 24-year-old winger, who will be playing at the upcoming World Cup in Brazil with Ghana, says that though he is happy at the Stade Velodrome at the moment, anything can happen in the near future.
‘In the future things might change but at the moment I am happy as a Marseille player and I am proud to be wearing the jersey,’ Ayew told foot-express.com .
The 2011 BBC African Footballer of the Year is widely expected to make a move this summer to seek new challenges elsewhere.
He is reportedly the subject of a 10 million Euro bid from Italian club Napoli.
‘I could have gone away two years ago when we did not go to the Champions League but I stayed because when you’re in a club like Marseille you know that planning is everything.”
“We’ll see what happens but there are all conditions to continue playing with this shirt.’
Ayew, who has won four trophies in five seasons with Les Phocéens, has turned out to be one of the most influential players at the club after growing through the ranks over the years.
New Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa is reported to be keen on tying him down at the Stade Velodrome, and there have been reports that he plans to make him captain in order to convince him to stay.
