Nurses Association assures aggrieved Korle-Bu junior nurses
President of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA), Mr Kwaku Asante-Krobea, has appealed to junior nurses at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to exercise restraint over their unpaid salaries.
He assured them that management of the Hospital together with the leadership of the GRNA, were working expeditiously for the salaries to be paid.
Some aggrieved junior nurses numbering over 500 at the Hospital had been agitating over their unpaid salaries since January 2012.
Speaking to them at the Secretariat of the GRNA in Accra, Mr Asante-Krobea promised that the issue would soon be resolved as it was now left for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to give financial clearance.
He said the GRNA would as a matter of urgency forward any information that the Ministry of Finance would seek in order to pave way for the financial clearance to enable the nurses received their salaries.
‘We are capable of resolving the issue and I will urge all aggrieved nurses to have confidence in us as we work assiduously to ensure that their unpaid 20 months salaries are finally paid,’ he assured.
Some of the nurses, who spoke with the Ghana News Agency, expressed faith in the leadership of the GRNA to help resolve the issue to enable them receive their salaries as soon as possible.
