NPP Issue Guidelines On Elections
This follows allegations that various local offices are issuing their own guidelines for the elections scheduled to begin Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the polling station and electoral area levels.
A statement issued by Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, general secretary of the party yesterday directed ‘all party officers to suspend such action in order not to jeopardize a very peaceful exercise that the party intends to undertake.
‘It has come to the notice of the National Headquarters of the NPP that certain Constituency and Regional Officers of the party have issued their own guidelines for the impending Internal Elections.’
Mr. Owusu Afriyie assured that latest by tomorrow, the party will roll out what he described as ‘comprehensive guidelines’ for the conduct of the elections.
‘We wish to assure all our party officials and followers that comprehensive guidelines that would govern our Internal Elections from the polling stations to the National Executive elections are being prepared and would be released to our regional/constituencies offices by Friday 18 th October 2013.’
While at it, the NPP General Secretary known in political circles as Sir John ‘urged all interested parties to remain calm as the National Headquarters works on ensuring a peaceful, credible and clean Internal Elections’.
It would be recalled that last week the National Executive Committee (NEC) met to decide on fresh proposals to prepare the party for the 2016 general elections in which it was decided that preparations for the elections at the grassroots level start with immediate effect.
