No Room For Irresponsible Student Unionism – VC

Vice chancellor of Federal University Dutsinma, Prof. James Ayatse, has pledged the institution’s determination to provide a favourable learning environment for students but warned against irresponsible student unionism.

Prof. Ayatse spoke when he inaugurated the first student representative council of the school. He said that a standard Information Communication and Technology (ICT) and library building for the university had been completed and would soon be handed over to the students for use.

He therefore, challenged the student union leaders to partner with the school to realise its vision and mission and assured them that “the university will continue to strive to provide a conducive learning environment and make the campus lively for the students.”

He said the Senate of the school approved the students representative body to provide them a platform to relate with the authorities and lauded the orderly conduct of the elections that produced the student leaders.

“We hope to see a stronger synergy and partnership with the student representatives who we believe will be supported by the entire students in the overall aim of realising the vision and mission of this noble institution.”

Among the pioneer leaders of the student representative union are Bashir Mohammed, who will serve as the chairman, Mato Thaddeus, secretary-general and Achina Funmilayo Lydia, treasurer.
