Jurgen Klinsmann says the United States will not be on a revenge mission when they face Ghana in their opening 2014 world cup game on Monday.
The Americans face the Black Stars for a third time having lost the previous two games all by 1-2 margins in Germany and South Africa.
And that has fuelled talk that revenge will be key on the agenda for Jürgen Klinsman’s side but the American is keen to insist that is not the case.
‘I don’t think will be revenge. Maybe the players from four years ago will want an extra kick and energy from that. That’s alright with me but I always start on a blank sheet. We are all excited about this game and we have worked hard for this so we are full of confidence. It’s going to be a challenge but we are very confident,’ Klinsmann said
The German is also hoping his side can show against Ghana that they have made progress where in the last four years by beating the Black Stars.
‘Over time you want to see progress with the team and progress. Now this is an awesome moment and to improve so there will be no better place to do that than against a team that has beaten Ghana twice,’ the German said.
