Wozniacki parts ways with coach

Caroline Wozniacki will no longer be working with Michael Mortensen on a regular basis, tennis.com reports.

The experienced coach, who was hired earlier this year, told Danish newspaper Esktra Bladet that Wozniacki would continue working with her father, Piotr.

“I can’t do much more right now,” Mortensen said. “It’s better if the two of them continue working alone.

“Caroline doesn’t feel that the time is right to work on the things I’d like to change in her game. She wants to work on the things she emphasises and that’s totally fine.

“There’s a lot of pressure on her and a lot of points she has to defend, and she wants to become familiar with her own game again.”

He added that it was “possible I’ll come in later in the season when she has the energy for new input.”

Wozniacki, who will exit the Top 15 when the new WTA rankings are released next week, has been through several coaches as she struggles to re-climb the rankings. The former No. 1 has kept returning to working with her father. Her previous coach, Thomas Hogstedt, also lasted only a few months.
