The organised labour on Tuesday in Abuja pledged to accept the outcome of the ongoing national conference provided it would be in the national interest.
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Abdulwaheed Omar, gave the pledge in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
“The organised labour believes in the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria as a nation.
“We will be most concerned about issues of security, governance, even if it takes for a restructuring because there must be prudence in governance and the cost of governance,” he said.
Omar urged Nigerians to have faith in the conference and expressed optimism that it would be successful.
“Nigerians have fears that previous conferences have not achieved anything in terms of implementation.
“I do hope that this one will be able to put structures in place that will make it very imperative for government to implement its recommendations.
“Some of the recommendations or positions that will be taken by this conference should be in such a way that they will not allow manipulation,” he said.
