Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Ike Nwachukwu, will lead the South-East delegates to the proposed national conference.
This was made known on Thursday shortly after the South-East Governors’ Forum met with delegates from the zone to the conference.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Abia State, Mr. Theodore Orji, presided over the meeting, held at the Enugu State Government House.
Orji said the South-East governors and delegates agreed that a Catholic priest, Monsignor Obiora Ike, would be the deputy to Nwachukwu.
He said a former Nigeria’s ambassador to United States of America, Dr. George Obiozor, “is to manage the secretariat of Ndigbo that would be established in Abuja for the purpose of the conference.”
The governors advised the delegates of the zone to cooperate with other delegates to the conference and among themselves as well.
They urged the South-East delegates to protect the interest of their zone while taking the unity and prosperity of Nigeria as core priority.
Orji also announced different state leaders to the conference, who are “Dr. Sam Egwu for Ebonyi, Senator Ken Nnamani for Enugu, Ike Nwachukwu for Abia, Dr. Dozie Ikedife for Anambra and Dr. Ezekiel Izuogu for Imo state.”
