Borno State Police Command on Friday said there was an explosion of cases of rape and unnatural acts which include homosexuality and seduction of minors in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Gideon Jubrin, who called on parents to be wary of the increased number of minors lured by elderly men.
Jubrin, in the statement, revealed some of the criminal activities perpetrated by some of the suspects in the custody of the command included the attempted rape by one Ahmadu Abubakar (15 years old) of a five-year-old girl at Daban Masara in Kukawa Local Government Area of the state on February 22, 2014.
He said that on the same day, another man, Mohammed Ibrahim, of Doctor’s Quarters, Maiduguri, in association with his friend, Abdullahi Ganjarma of Bulumkutu Ward in Maiduguri, allegedly lured a minor and cut off his manhood for suspected ritual purpose.
The police spokesman said one Ajit Haruna (21 years old) of Bulumkutu Ward, Maiduguri, was arrested on February 19, 2014, for raping a 13-year-old student, while on February 28, one Mohammed Dan Nguru, a 55-year-old resident of Bulumkutu ward, was arrested for raping an eight-year-old girl.
Jubrin said, “One Tijjani Lawan (30), Alhaji Sugun Adamu (35), Mohammed Usman (18), and Abdullahi Suleiman (26), all from Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, were arrested at Bulumkutu on March 3, 2014, for being in possession of 225 bags and 419 pellets of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp.”
