No fewer than three persons have been arrested by the police in Bayelsa State in connection with the free-for-all that resulted in the stabbing of a youth to death in the state on Saturday.

It was learnt that the police had launched a manhunt for the masterminds of the crisis that almost led to a communinal conflict between Otu-Asiga and Oruma in Ogbia Local Government Areas of the state.

Oruma was embroiled in violence in the early morning of Saturday after youths suspected to be cultists turned the fight into a supremacy battle.
One of the youths from Otu-Asiga was reportedly stabbed during the crisis and died later while sympathisers were rushing him to the hospital.
Police operatives were said to have immediately responded to a distress call to stop a looming reprisal from Otu-Asiga youths.

Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa Command, Mr. Hilary Opara, confirmed that three persons, including the mastermind of the crisis, had been arrested by the police.
Opara said the arrowhead of the violent youths fled the state immediately after the crisis.
But, Opara said the police went on his trail and later apprehended him at a community in Rivers State.

The commissioner said the police acted quickly to stop the incident from degenerating into a communal crisis.
He said the police also involved the two paramount rulers of Otu-Asiga and Oruma as well as the Chairman of the local government area in the crisis and mandated them to stop the brewing crisis.

He said a detachment of police operatives had been deployed in the communities to maintain law and order.
He confirmed that some persons had been arrested in connection with the incident.
