The International Fund for Agricultural Development in conjunction with the Ondo State Government plans to empower 100 entrepreneurs in the state, an official has said.
The State Programme Officer of IFAD, Mr Alex Olusola, disclosed the empowerment programme plan to the News Agency Nigeria on Sunday in Akure.
Olusola said the programme would be carried out under the Rural Agro Business Investment Scheme Empowerment basically designed for women and youths.
He said that Ondo was among the states in the Niger Delta included in the programme because of its performance in the organisation’s Community-Based Natural Resource Management Programme.
“Ondo State is now recognitosed to participate in the new RAISE programme and we are to look for 100 entrepreneurs in nine local government areas.
“IFAD is going to take care of the whole programme without any counterpart fund from the benefiting states,” he said.
He expressed the hope that the programme would help the beneficiaries to move from micro level of entrepreneurship to the medium level.
