Gateway United coach Henry Nwosu has called for an improvement on refereeing in the Nigerian National League this season, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Nwosu made the call following allegations of bad officiating and insecurity at some of the match venues.
The former Super Eagles captain told NAN that the only way the league would improve with good officiating and security at the stadiums.
NAN reports that the NNL recently sanctioned Jigawa Golden Stars FC after their fans disrupted their match against Wikki Tourist of Bauchi on February 16.
Nigeria ’80 Africa Cup of Nations winner Nwosu said, “I expect that the level of officiating and security at venues will be improved upon throughout the season.
“It is only then the quality of football in the league can improve for the good of all football fans.”
NAN reports that Gateway United have drawn their two matches in the season.
Nwosu led Gateway to a 1-1 draw with Stationery Stores of Lagos in their NNL Division B clash at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, on Saturday.
