The Lagos Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has handed over 22 drums of petrol to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.
It was learnt that the drums, containing 250 litres of petrol each, were recovered from suspected oil vandals on the high sea along the Badagry area of Lagos state.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mefor Chibuzo, said, “The suspected oil vandals were intercepted two weeks ago on the high sea along the Badagry area of Lagos state.
“Twenty two drums, with each containing 250 litres of PMS, were recovered from oil vandals.
“The products were loaded from Escravos, Apapa and Festac, for onward movement to neighbouring countries of Benin Republic and Togo.”
Commandant of NSCDC, Lagos, Mr. Adesuyi Dayo, while handing over the products to officials of the NNPC, appealed to Lagosians and other well meaning Nigerians to assist the corps with useful information concerning illegal activities going on in their environment.
He said, “All vandals are warned that it is no longer business as usual; the corps is out to get them. There is also a need for collaboration among other security agencies in ensuring that lives and properties of the citizenry in the state are safe.
