Some delegates for the National Conference arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Sunday amid tight security at the airport.
Our correspondent who visited the airport saw eminent Nigerians as they arrived the Federal Capital city, while security men guarded a select few of the delegates as they made their way to their vehicles.
Most of the delegates arrived the airport in the evening.
The airport was heavily guarded as security officials in mufti and a few uniformed men were strategically stationed at select locations at the airport.
Activities at the airport was much as taxi drivers cashed in on the opportunity to generate revenue.
The ex-Chairman, PUNCH Nigeria Limited, Chief Ajibola Ogunshola; Lamido of Adamawa, Mr. Aliu Mustapha; and some other delegates were sited at the arrival terminal of the NAIA as they arrive town for the programme.
Meanwhile, the secretariat of the National Conference asked delegates to the conference to arrive the venue of the conference by 10am on Monday (today) for accreditation.
The Assistant Secretary, Media and Communications to the conference, Mr. Akpandem James, disclosed this in a statement.
According to him, the delegates were expected to report to the National Judicial Institute, the official venue of the conference along the Airport Road in the Jabi area of Abuja.
Our correspondent had visited the JNI on Friday and observed tight security presence at the venue, as well as preparations by attendants at the site.
The statement from the assistant secretary added that all invited guests and delegates were expected to be seated by 3.15pm.
It said President Goodluck Jonathan would inaugurate the conference today (Monday, March 17.)
