A mobile policeman identified as, Corporal Tanko Usman, has allegedly committed suicide along Eastern bye-pass in an uncompleted building by shooting himself with his service rifle in Minna, the Niger State capital.
Our correspondent gathered that Corporal Tanko on saturday evening had allegedly shot himself with his official rifle (AK 47) while returning from his duty post at one of the second generation banks within the state capital.
It was gathered that the Corporal who was attached to squadron 12 Police Mobile Force PMF Minna, walked into the uncompleted building, after parking his motorcycle by the road, and then killed himself.
An eye witness said the Police Corporal who was in his early 30s was seen entering the uncompleted building by passersby and people living around the area only to hear a gun shot five minutes later.
People living around the area located near M.I Wushishi Housing Estate, immediately notified the Maitumbi police division. They afterwards came to take away the body of the deceased.
Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Richard Adamu Oguche, confirmed the incident and stated that the body had been deposited at IBB Specialist Hospital mortuary in Minna.
“The fact is that there was a report that a man suspected to be mobile policeman allegedly shot himself in an uncompleted building at Eastern bye-pass and it was discovered he was from 12 squadron Police Mobile force PMF, he shot himself with his service rifle which was also recovered from the scene of the incidence,” he said.
