The Karate Federation of Nigeria is set to hold a tournament from which it will select its karatekas for the World Senior Championships in Germany in November.
The vice president and Technical Committee chairman of the federation, Emmanuel Metu, told The Punch that the athletes would be selected from the KFN President National Karate Championship slated to hold in Ilorin from March 26 to 30.
Metu said, “Athletes who emerge from the Ilorin competition will later be called for national camping in preparation for the WKF World Senior Championships in Germany.
“The Ilorin competition is sponsored by the president, Agu Ejidike, and we hope to invite as many as possible for camping.”
He, however, said the number of athletes in the final selection will be determined by the availability of funds for the preparation for the event.
“We hope to take a full team to Germany, but the funds we have then will determine the final number we take to the competition,” he said.
