Ijaw Youth Council (Worldwide) has condemned the abduction of Ebi Clark, son of the prominent Ijaw leader and former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark.
It has therefore demanded immediate release of the victim by his captors.
In a statement on Thursday by the group’s spokesman, Mr. Eric Omare, the IYC said Ebi was abducted by unknown gunmen on Wednesday.
Thereafter, the group said he (Ebi) was whisked away through the Kiagbodo river (which connects the Ramos and Forcados) in Delta and Bayelsa states.
According to the statement, the youth’s body has asked all the clan heads in the coastal communities of Ingbelebiri, Oporomor and Seimbiri, to trace and fish out the abductors.
The IYC said the group would use all resources at its disposal to fight kidnapping and other forms of criminality in Ijaw land.
The group’s statement reads in part, “Information at the IYC disposal is that the son of the Ijaw national leader Ebi Clark was taken to the kidnappers’ hideout through the Kiagbodo river which connects with the Ramos and Forcados rivers in Delta and Bayelsa states.
“Therefore, all IYC clan officials in the coastal areas of Ingbelebiri, Oporomor and Seimbiri clans of Bayelsa and Delta states have been directed to fish out the kidnappers.”
The IYC prayed that the abduction of Ebi would not affect the elder statesman who is on a national assignment to discuss issues that would benefit the Ijaw nation and the people of Nigeria.
