Injured Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, will be fit for action in two weeks time, an official said on Thursday in Abuja.
A statement by Ben Alaiya, the Super Eagles’ Media Officer, quoted Balogun as saying that the Nigeria Football Federation and his German club, Fortuna Dusseldorf, made his recovery possible.
Alaiya quoted Balogun as saying in a statement, “I have been doing the gym aspect; it didn’t just start. I have been going through the routine and should be doing bike next week, but the medics have said I should take it a step at a time.
“Hopefully, I should be doing ‘Cross Trainer’ next week, which should prepare me for physical running in two weeks’ time.
“I have removed all encumbrances on my toe and I now walk freely.’’
It also quoted Balogun as saying that Stephen Keshi, the Super Eagles’ Head Coach, had been in constant touch with him.
He (Balogun) said he was sure he would make a great impact in the national team, if he was selected for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
The Fortuna Dusseldorf defender said he was happy to play for Nigeria, noting that he would do his best for the team, if he made the World Cup squad.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Balogun was injured during Nigeria’s international friendly with Mexico at Atlanta in the US in March
