Fulani herdsmen, yesterday, sacked Tse Ortom–Adorogo in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, home town of the Minister of State for Trade and Investment and Supervising Minister of Aviation, Dr Samuel Ortom.
100 houses and huts were razed in the villages less than 45 kilometers from Awe local government area of Nasarawa State.
Ortom, who led top government functionaries and associates to Gbajimba to sympathize and donate relief materials to displaced victims discovered that his country home had been razed by the attackers with his kinsmen fleeing to safety.
According to reports, the minister fought back tears as he inspected the communities, describing the assault as “an act of terrorism and carnage.”
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Operations, Mr. Micheal Zuokumor, had Friday said that the Police would apply minimal force to dislodge herdsmen from the state.
“As I speak with you, more policemen have already been deployed to the state; we have enough men and everything would be done to protect lives and property of the people of Benue state and all Nigerians,” he told newsmen.
