The Federal Road Safety Corps has warned its regular and special marshals against acts capable of tarnishing the image and prestige of the corps.
The Zonal Commanding Officer of the corps in-charge of Edo, Delta and Anambra, Mr. Charles Akpabio, gave the warning on Wednesday while addressing officers and men of the corps in its Onitsha Unit Command in Anambra.
Akpabio said the corps would punish any personnel found indulging in acts of indiscipline.
“I am here to tell you that the corps marshal will not tolerate any act of indiscipline, whether you are in the workplace or outside the workplace,” he said.
On the nationwide “crash the crashes” campaign, Akpabio noted that most officers and men had been posted to major road corridors of the zone, including the Benin-Auchi, Onitsha-Enugu and Onitsha-Owerri roads.
“We want to see how we can crash down the rate of accidents on the major roads through intensive enlightenment and enforcement during this week.
“And the programme is meant to change the behavioural pattern of motorists,” he said.
Akpabio was in Onitsha on a one-day working visit to sectors under his command.
