The Federal Government has concluded arrangements to facilitate the burial of civil servants who died in the bomb blast which took place at the popular Nyanya Motor Park, Abuja.
There are also indications that the government would offset the medical bills of those who are injured in the explosion.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, according to a statement issued on Monday night by the Director (Communications) in his Office, Dr. Tope Ajakaiye, gave the assurance when he visited some hospitals to commiserate with the victims.
While expressing shock and sadness on the incident, Aji said it was unfortunate that some of victims died on the way to their offices where they were engaged in serving the nation.
Many civil servants were said to have been involved in the attack which killed over 200 persons.
Ajakaiye, quoted Aji as describing the explosion as targeting “innocent citizens and as a result many people, including some civil servants, lost their lives while many others were injured.”
According to him, the HOS assured the wounded and families of the deceased civil servants that all efforts were being made “to assist them at this moment of distress.”
Ajakaiye said, “The HOS said further that Permanent Secretaries have been directed to facilitate all arrangements for the burial and payment of entitlements to the families of deceased officers in line with civil service regulations. The HOS urges civil servants to be more security conscious and assist security agencies in the efforts being made to address the country’s present security challenges.”
