Federer Hints He Could Skip French Open

Swiss tennis player Roger Federer says he could miss the French open to be with his wife when she gives birth again.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion has competed in all Majors since 2000.

He has twin daughters with wife Mirka and revealed in December they are expecting a third child, but has not said when.

“It’s a priority for me trying to be there, trying to support my wife,” the 32-year-old said.

“I’ve played enough tennis matches. Missing a tournament or missing a match wouldn’t change anything for me.”

The 2014 French Open begins Sunday, 25 May throughout the next two weeks.

The 2009 champion added he would be prepared to skip the championships at the Stade Roland Garros.

“Yeah (I would be prepared to miss the French open), lets talk about it when it would happen,” he added.

“At the moment, we hope it’s going to be that way.”

Meanwhile, Federer beat Radek Stepanek 6-1, 6-2 in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday.
