The Project Director, E2DMC, an education solutions provider, Ms. Jumoke Olatunji, says the most effective way to tackle failure rate, particularly in subjects such as Mathematics and English language, is to identify each pupil’s capability.
She stated this in Lagos while unveiling one of the company’s new products, Profiler.
According to her, the item identifies pupils’ learning difficulty and proffers solution to them.
She said, “There is no pupil that is dull. In that supposedly slow pupil, you will find that he is really fast, creative and intelligent. The child only has a specific learning difficulty, which requires identification and turning around into a positive character attribute.
“What to do is to identify the problem before a child fails and intervene aoopropriately. Those countries with high success rates in education understand that if you apply a simple assessment during the year, you can significantly decrease the level of failures.”
Olatunji, who said E2DMC would collaborate with a United Kingdom outfit, Microlinkpc, in packaging the initiative, added that the move had helped some pupils in improving their internal and external examinations.
The Account Manager, Microlinkpc, Mr. Gabriel Swatzell, noted that the profiler would determine the causes of failure in a particular subject as well as proffer solutions to them.
Noting that the system had been successful in the UK, he added that it would be a panacea for failure in Mathematics and English Language.
Swatzell added that there was an administration of short assessment in various subjects on the pupils, which provided their teachers with a road map for their classes.
