Glo Premier League giants Enyimba were knocked out of the Orange Caf Champions League despite winning by a lone goal at AS Real of Bamako in the 1/16th round.
The two time African champions needed to overturn a two away goal deficit following last Sunday’s 2-1 loss in Aba to the Malian opponents, but Bala Zaka’s first-half strike was too little to help the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) outfit scale through as AS Real advanced on away goal rule after a 2-2 agg. tie.
The round of 16 marks the farthest AS Real have reached in a major continental club championship since finishing as losing finalists in 1966 edition of the same competition.
Reigning Nigerian champions Kano Pillars crashed out of the same competition in the preliminary round.
