Brazil 2014 watch: Osaze scores again, Mikel beaten

Osaze Odemwingie is justifying the faith posed in him by those calling for his return to the Super Eagles as the countdown to Brazil 2014 continues.

The forward scored the only goal in Stoke City’s 1-0 win at home over Sone Aluko’s Hull City. The goal, which he dedicated to his father for his 61st birthday, came in the 62nd minute of the match to become Osaze’s fourth goal in three consecutive matches.

Victor Moses was an 81st minute substitute for Raheem Sterling as Liverpool white washed Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 on Sunday at Anfield.

In Turkey, Michael Eneramo scored for Karabukspor against his former club, Besiktas, as they won by 1-0.

Eagles most expensive player Mikel Obi was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s 1-0 away loss at Crystal Palace and Shola Ameobi was also unused in Newcastle United’s 4-0 loss away at Southampton.

Brown Ideye was on the losing side as Dynamo Kyiv lost 2-0 away at Dnipro on Sunday. His compatriot, Lukman Haruna, was an unused substitute for the  match as many of the Nigerian hopefuls for the World Cup continues to sit on the bench.

Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama kept a clean sheet on Sunday as Lille won 1-0 at home against Guingamp. The Eagles number one safest hands played the entire match. The goal was scored by Salomon Kalou in the 90th minute.

Elderson Echiejile made his second league start for AS Monaco since joining them from Sporting Braga in January. They lost 1-0 at Evian TG but the left back was on for 90 minutes.

In the English Championship, Kenneth Omeruo was in action for 79 minutes in Middlesbrough’s 2-0 away win at Bright and Hove Albion. The defender, on loan from Chelsea, was rated highly in ‘Borough’s defence.

In Italy, Lazio beat Parma 3-2 at home on Sunday to ensure their strong run in the league. Ogenyi Onazi featured all through the match.

But Obinna Nsofor was not too lucky as his club, Chievo Verona, lost 3-0 away at AC Milan on Saturday. The Nigerian was on for 65 minutes.

In Spain, Ramon Azeez was an 82nd minute substitute as UD Almeria fell 1-0 at Real Valladolid on Sunday. The loss confines them to the 16th position after gathering 30 points from 30 matches.

Godfrey Oboabona was unlisted for Rizespor as they won 3-2 away at Belediye. The win ensured the struggling club might survive relegation.

Scottish league winners, Celtic, drew 1-1 at Ross County on Saturday. Efe Ambrose was in the heart of the Celtic’s defence to prevent too much damage. He played the entire match.

Cercle Brugge lost 4-0 away at Kortrijk on Saturday. Nigeria’s Uchebo Michael, was on for only 28 minutes in the match.

Juwon Oshaniwa played for 90 minutes as Ashdod lost 1-0 to Ironi Ramat Hasharon in the Israeli league playoff.
