Former Chairman of The Punch Newspaper, Chief Ajibola Ogunshola; the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi; his counterpart in Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, and Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, will be present at the 3rd Venerable Emmanuel Alayande Memorial Lecture and Awards ceremony, organised by the Ibadan Grammar School Old Students’ Association on March 27.
The lecture, with the theme, ‘Law and the Education of a Nation’, will be delivered by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Ayotunde Philips at the Emmanuel Alayande Hall, inside the school premises in Ibadan.
In a release signed by the National President of IGSOSA, Prof. Charles Aworh, Alayande was described as a truly and exemplary educationist, foremost nationalist and inspirational leader. The event will also feature presentation of five categories of awards to former principals of the school which was founded in March 1913, and some of the most outstanding old students of the school. The categories are Lifetime Achievement award, Past Presidents’ award, Past Principals award, Distinguished Old Student award and Outstanding Service award. A Youth Corpers’ Lodge built by the Lagos branch of the old students will also be opened.
Chairman of Globacom, Dr. Mike Adenuga, who is an old student of the school, will be named as Chief Benefactor at the event while Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odugade Odulana, Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, are royal fathers of the day.
