The Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday formally decorated 787 of its men who were beneficiaries of the recent promotion exercise in the force.
They were charged to reciprocate the gesture by discharging their responsibilities in their posts efficiently and effectively.
Those that benefitted from the promotion in the command were two Superintendent of Police who moved to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police; seven Deputy Superintendent of Police to Superintendent of Police; 10 ASP to DSP; six Inspector to Senior Inspector; and 37 Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Others were 70 Sergeants, who moved to the rank of Inspectors; 83 from the rank of Corporal to Sergeant and 572 Constables, who moved to the rank of Corporals.
Addressing the newly-promoted policemen, the Acting Commissioner of Police for the command, Mr. Alhassan Mamuda, urged them to justify the new ranks given to them by the Federal Government.
He said, “You should see your new ranks as additional responsibility; a challenge. You are expected to justify the confidence reposed in you by the Inspector General of Police, the government and the people of Nigeria.”
The police boss urged the newly-promoted policemen to key into the transformation agenda of the present police administration, especially in the fight against corruption, terrorism, armed robbery and criminality.
