NHIS retrieves GH¢18m fraudulent claims
The National Health Insurance Authority has recouped eighteen million Ghana Cedis charged through fraudulent claims by service providers over the last two years.
This comes after a clinical audit division set up by the authority to ensure that only genuine claims are processed and paid.
The Upper West Regional Director of the NHIA, Titus Sory, revealed this during a health walk Saturday morning in Wa to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the authority.
He said the Authority has instituted a lot of measures as part of effort to offer quality service to customers.
Amongst them, Mr. Sory disclosed is the introduction of a biometric registration system to authenticate the identity of the card holders to prevent impersonation.
Another measure he said is the establishment of the claims processing centre to ensure fast payment of claims to service providers.
Titus Sory promised a better service in the coming years to enhance the pro-poor health policy of the government.
