Nollywood sensation, Jim Iyke, over the weekend joined a number of colleague actors such as Patience and Genevieve Nnaji who have added music to their acting career, at the historic launch of his debut album, “Who Am I,” in Ghana.

Last Saturday at the Silverbird store in the Accra Mall, where the historic event was held, a lot of Ghanaian showbiz gurus, music and movie fans as well the media including BEATWAVES graced the l aunching ceremony, powered by Ghana’s TV Africa, to support Jim Iyke.

His 16-track album features known musical faces as 2Face Idebia, Ghana’s Joe of Mentor fame who is otherwise touted Nii of MTN Project fame, among other stars.

Jim Iyke described the album as an all-purpose one, because it has bits of all the genres of music, hence he cannot call the album Afro-pop, Hip Hop or anything. “It is music. I call it music,” he says.

The actor-turned-musician took advantage of the launch to, perhaps for the first time, mount the stage to perform three of his songs on the album with other artistes he featured. It was indeed an interesting moment to watch Jim did what he was not noted for.

Earlier at a press conference, he noted that music is not new to him as according to him, movies and music are intertwined.

He explained that one cannot do movies without music, and vice versa.
He disclosed that even before decided to release his debut, he had already sponsored three albums by different artistes.

The three songs he performed at the event had interesting rhythms, a clear indication that Jim could in no time hit the world market if he markets the album well.

After the launch, Jim granted photo opportunities to fans and signed autographs.

Popular faces as at the ceremony included Emmanuel Armah, Luckie Lawson, Barosky, Czar, and Mr. Simon Eze from the Nigerian High Commission.
