Zambia: 250 Aspiring Referees to Be Tested

ABOUT 250 aspiring referees will today be tested for competence before being admitted to the Zambian refereeing structures.

The whistlemen are expected to be given Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) referees’ badges as Class-Three in examinations to be conducted simultaneously across the country.

The examinations would be held in seven centres but would carter for all 10 of Zambia’s provinces.

According to a FAZ statement, in the last one year, the 249 referees have been undergoing various preparatory processes from across the country with the examinations being the last part and the successful ones joining the Zambian referees in Class-Three.

This will also relieve pressure on the Class-Three referees in the country in view of the increased number of matches in Division-Three and various FAZ amateur structures.

“These examinations provide an opportunity for all those aspiring to be match officials to be certified with the successful candidates to be awarded certificates of competence and become “Class-Three FAZ referees,” the statement said.

The examinations will be held in Choma which will cover all candidates in the southern zone, Lusaka for the midlands, Katete for the eastern, Mansa for Luapula and northern regions, Kitwe for Copperbelt, Solwezi will cater for candidates in the North-West and Kaoma for western.
